As service coordinator for the Jackson region, Jimmie draws energy from his clients, and finds particular joy witnessing the resiliency of entire families coming together after a tragic event. He encourages caretakers especially to access mental health resources available to them, reminding them that they are not alone in this journey. Jimmie recharges with low-tech family time and in his garden with his dogs.
One of the things I was taught in my training [as a social worker] is that we don’t create a person’s path—we assist them on their path. I consider myself a servant to my clients, and that is one of the most noble things I could ever do.
